Are you looking to make a difference in someone’s life this year?

Whether we are helping kids with their homework, providing nutritious snacks and lunches, making crafts, playing games or working with adults on language, parenting, technology or other life skills, Beacon Place volunteers are making a difference every day by offering support that allows others to make changes for themselves.

We are looking for adult and teen volunteers to support our programs. Below is a short list of current needs but we know everyone has talents and skills to share that we can put to good use! Or, fill out our general volunteer interest form and we will be happy to chat further with you about how to become involved.

Summer Lunch Program –

Adult and teen volunteers needed Monday and Thursday 10:00-1:30 June through August; activities include interacting with kids during lunch and playing games, arts and crafts, sports, etc. Training is provided at the beginning of the summer and on an on-going basis. Volunteers are asked to commit to any six days of the program each summer to ensure that the kids at camp and the volunteers get to know each other.

Training is provided at the start of the program. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 8 days during the summer.

Afterschool Homework and Tutoring Programs –

During the school year kids need extra support to do well in school. Teen and adult volunteers are needed afterschool until 5:30 Monday through Thursday and Saturday mornings 8:45 until 11:15. Simple training is required and is provided on an on-going basis. No minimum commitment is required but regular participation is encouraged for the students to get to know the tutors.

Special Event Programming –

Are you unable to commit to a weekly or regular volunteer schedule but still want to have a chance to help the Beacon Place kids and families? Consider volunteering to help at one of our special events such as the spring/fall clean up days, Summer Walk-a-Thon, Holiday Party for Kids,  or Christmas Boutique for Parents. Email admin@beacon-place.org for upcoming activities.
