Ommmm…..

Being a teenager can be challenging for any child, including our Beacon Place teens.
On a recent Friday night, the teens and tweens of Beacon Place gathered to learn new ways to lean into themselves, and lean onto others as they navigate these tricky years.
The night started with a little yoga fun where they learned how breath and movement can be linked to both energize and calm the mind and body. With a few giggles and gasps, the kids quickly mastered poses like downward dog, tree, chair, and then flowed through some sun salutations.
All the while gaining new respect for how they can control their emotions and feelings through attention to their physical being.
Then it was on to some group fun as they learned ways to lean onto those around them including their friends and peers. Beacon Place college intern, Lina Vargas, led the group through a number of laughter filled team building exercises where they had to work together and literally lean on each other to complete a task.
Of course the night ended with lots of food and more laughs, with each teen agreeing that they learned a little bit more about themselves and how to support each other. To learn more about the Beacon Place Tweens and Teens program, contact admin@beacon-place.org.
